What is carpet gripper?

For a stretch fit installation, you need to install carpet grippers before you fit a carpet to ensure it stays taught and in place. Carpet gripper rods are thin strips of high-grade, resin bonded plywood with sharp, angled nails and pins or tacks that hold your carpet in place.

Are carpet grippers necessary?

Does it need new grippers? Yes - new carpet, new underlay and new grippers! They provide a firm grip to your flooring and keep the carpet taut and help prevent any movement that may cause lumps and bumps.

How is carpet gripper made?

The ideal product for stretch fit carpet installations, this wood gripper is made from high-grade resin bonded plywood, five-ply (6mm) thickness, machined on one edge to a defined angle and penetrated from the underside by two rows of passivated pins.

How long do carpet grippers last?

Ideally, they should be replaced every time you change your flooring. The only exception to this rule is if they're in a particularly good condition, or if it's been less than 12 months since they were last swapped out
